Newsom changes tone of Trump from campaign rhetoric, federal wildfire recovery funds threatened

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has long been President Donald Trump’s main opponent and target.

But the governor of the most populous state in the United States is one of the leaders of the Democrats’ resistance to the second Trump administration and potential White House competitors in 2028, as he is fanatical to provide more for the people and businesses federal aid, so put politics aside. The deadly wildfires in Metro Los Angeles were damaged last month.

“Thanks to President Trump for coming to our community and meeting with me today to continue our joint efforts to support the joint efforts of those affected,” Newsom said in a statement with the White House president on Wednesday evening.

In a video released about the middle of society, the governor said: “So, at the White House. Just had a meeting with President Trump. I also had a very successful day on Capitol Hill, with Republicans and Democrats in a bipartisan way,” the governor said. Meeting leaders on disaster assistance and disaster recovery for people affected by the Southern California fires.”

Newsom describes his meeting with Trump and members of Congress as “the spirit of cooperation and cooperation…definition.”

The governor’s trip is his first trip to Washington, D.C. since Trump took over as part of his efforts to get additional federal funding to help restore wildfires from the devastating fires that killed 29 people and destroy More than 12,000 houses were forced to evacuate thousands.

Late last month, the governor approved $2.5 billion in firefighting, which he hopes the federal government will reimburse.

Newsom, after meeting with Trump and crisscrossing Capitol Hill, stressed: “We continue to cut the traditional tape festival to speed up recovery and cleanup and ensure reconstruction work is fast. We must ensure survivors get the resources they need and support.”

The relationship between Newsom and Trump is not always so harmonious.

Their hatred can be traced back to Trump’s first election in 2016, when the news agency was governor of California.

Newsom accused Trump’s claim as “pure novels”

Although they do seek common ground during Trump’s first term at the White House, over the past two years, verbal fireworks have recovered, with Newsom serving as former President Joe Biden and former Vice President Card Kamala Harris’ top agent for the campaign, he replaced Biden as the Democratic 2024 Standardist last summer.

Newsom often criticized Trump, while former and future presidents easily returned to that favor, viewing Newsom and Juply Blue California as a political punching bag.

Newsom turned to his heavy blue state after Trump defeated Harris in November.

Trump replied: “He is using the word ‘Trump’ to stop all the great things that can be done to make California great again,” but I just overwhelmed the election.”

But Newsom follows that earlier this week, California lawmakers approved $25 million in legal funding proposed by the Democratic governor to challenge the Trump administration’s actions. The Legislature has also allocated another $25 million to legal groups to defend undocumented immigrants facing possible deportation in the new Trump administration’s efforts.

After the fire broke out early last month, Trump repeatedly criticized Newsom for handling the crisis. He accused the governor of poorly managed forestry and water policies and pointed out strong opposition to the lack of preparation and called on the news agency to step down.

“Gavin News should resign if he saves it. It’s his fault!!!” Trump accused in a Jan. 8 social media post, repeating his derogatory name that he often tags the governor.

Trump also blamed the deadly wildfire on the policy approved by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, another Democrat, and a state legislator. In the administrative order issued last month, he managed the management of national land and water resources as “disaster.”

Newsom has postponed. The governor’s controversy over Trump pointed out that when the fire first started, the reservoirs in southern California were already full, and he believed there was not much water to deal with the 100-mile-per-hour fire.

Newsom also claims Trump spreads “hurricane-like errors and false information.”

But when Trump arrived in Los Angeles late last month, hello to him at the airport (four days after taking office as president).

“Thank you first for coming here. It means a lot to all of us,” Newsom said hello to Trump last month when the president arrived in Los Angeles. “We need your support. We will need your help.”

The president announced that “we want to get something done. The way to get it done is to work together.”

Before he stopped in Los Angeles, Trump threatened to deny wildfire aid until certain regulations were reached in California, including changes to water policies and IDs that demand a vote.

Newsom was asked Thursday in an interview with CNN about the conditions of federal aid Trump may require, and Newsom was asked in a timely manner on Thursday, saying: “There is no discussion, I hope we can go beyond that.”

“To me, some of the conditions of bondage seem to be a little noise, a little political. At the end of the day, we’re together.”

Newsom has also backed off against Trump’s Zingers in recent weeks.

Under Trump’s order, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers opened two dams in central California last week, causing approximately 2.2 billion gallons of water to flow out of the reservoir.

Trump celebrated his move in a post on “Truth Social Friday and Sunday,” declaring that “water is flowing in California” and adding water is “farmers across the state and farmers in Los Angeles.”

But water experts believe the newly released water won’t flow to Los Angeles and wasted it in California’s usually wet winter months.

Newsom apparently aimed at rebuilding the working relationship he established with Trump during his White House presidency, but did not elicit any objection to the release of water.

“For Newsom, it’s not just the last disaster, it’s the next one. The federal government,” Jack Pini, a senior California political scientist at Claremont McKenna College. Jack Pitney stressed.
