Will Smith is reportedly on track to make his widely-anticipated acting return six months after he slapped Chris Rock at this year’s Oscars.
The award-winning actor, 53, is allegedly in talks to appear in Paramount Pictures’ upcoming movie Brilliance.
The film, based on a book by author Marcus Sakey, follows the lead Nick Cooper, a federal agent who works for the Department of Analysis and Response.

Nick is tasked with tracking down the 1% of people deemed “Brilliants” who are born with special powers.
Nick is a parent of a “Brilliant” daughter and is also one himself, with his ability to see the future, which ultimately leads him to try and stop a civil war.
The highly-anticipated movie is being branded as Will’s “passion project” as the King Richard star will produce the movie with his longtime collaborator and friend Akiva Goldsman.
The duo have previously worked on many high-grossing movies in Will’s filmography, including I, Robot (2004), I Am Legend (2007) and Hancock (2008).
Will’s upcoming movie project comes six months after he made international headlines for slapping Chris Rock after the comic made a joke about Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith.

While presenting for the best documentary feature category, the comedian threw a jibe about Jada’s shaved head.
He said: “Jada can’t wait for GI Jane 2.”
Will – who was less than impressed with the quip – walked up to the stage and slapped the presenter, before returning to his seat.
The Fresh Prince actor then shared an apology video on his YouTube page in July apologising to Chris, their families and Will’s fans.
Will, began the video with a message on screen which read: “It’s been a minute… Over the last few months, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and personal work… You asked a lot of fair questions that I wanted to take some time to answer.”
He then sat down and opened up about his controversial actions and explained why he didn’t say sorry to Chris during his acceptance speech immediately after the event.
