Mike Tindall's I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! appearance will be leaving some of his royal relatives “very upset”, according to an expert.

The former England rugby star has proved popular with fans of the ITV show during the opening days in the jungle.

However, a royal biographer says that the 44-year-old's antics will not have gone down well in Windsor.

Tindall is the first member of the royal family to take part in the reality show and has earned plenty of new fans with his anecdotes Down Under and rapping abilities.

However, royal expert Angela Levin has warned that his regal relatives will not be enjoying his spell in the limelight.

The Sun reports that Mike, who is married to the King's niece Zara, will have left William and Kate "very upset and very sad" since he headed for Australia.

Angela told The Sun: "What's persuaded him? Is it because he's bored and wants to have some fun? Is it because he's desperate to earn more money?

"I think it brings the royal family into disrepute. I don't think it's the right thing to say that when he and Zara met they both discovered they like to get smashed."

They added: "I don't think that's anybody's business, I don't think anybody should know. It was quite embarrassing to do rapping – I don't think that suited him. Why is he there for goodness sake?

"I think that demeans not just his wife, but his mother in law Princess Anne – and other members of the royal family. It's not just a joke."

Mike is said to be earning £150,000 for his stay in the jungle but Angela questioned why a wealthy royal would need the money.

Meghan Markle's Archtypes podcast and Prince Harry's upcoming memoirs have also caused a stir in royal circles recently.

Angela hopes that royals are not using having a new monarch as an opportunity to get away with behaviour that would previously have been unwelcome.

"I hope the rest of them don't feel that now there's a different monarch, King Charles, that he will allow all this,” she added.
