Paddy McGuinness "hated" wife Christine McGuinness being on The Real Housewives of Cheshire and "asked her to leave the show at the end of each series".
The 33-year-old star says that her Top Gear host husband wasn't best pleased when she told him about joining the cast of the ITVBe reality show.
In her new book A Beautiful Nightmare, Christine says she was approached to join the popular series on many occasions but always turned down the offer from telly bosses.
Speaking about the moment she told Paddy that she'd agreed to part of the show, the model said: "Let's just say it didn't go down well at home.
"Patrick didn't want me to have a public profile at all. He especially didn't want me to join this show.
"He thought it was all about the glitz and glamour and showing off your wealth, which is so far-removed from my normal life. But it was a chance to do something.
"And as much as my husband hated it and didn’t want me to be involved with the show, he should be really grateful for it, because it made me not focus on what was going on at home."
Christine joined the cast of the reality show during the same period pictures emerged of Paddy arm-in-arm with another woman.
Top Great host Paddy wasn't the only one against Christine joining the world of reality TV stardom.
Christine's mum was worried she'd come across as a "stereotypical Cheshire Housewife".
The TV personality said: Not everyone understood my reasons for wanting to do it, and you feel s**t having to explain yourself – especially when it was quite a nervous period anyway.
"I was leaving the children for the first time ever, going on telly and opening myself up to public opinion. It was a lot to think about. "
Christine give up her Guest Housewife role in 2010 after two years on the programme.
Explaining her decision to quit the show, the blonde bombshell said: "It just didn’t fit in with my life anymore.

"I always wanted to be very careful and make sure I wasn’t quitting the show just because Patrick wanted me to. At the end of every series he’d ask me not to go back.
"But I’d got to the point where I’d got everything I wanted out of it, and I felt there wasn’t much more I could give or do."
I’d never say never to returning to the show, and they still ask me to go back and tell me I’m welcome any time."
