Nicola Adams confirms Strictly return with Katya Jones after coronavirus ‘ban’

Nicola Adams has confirmed she and her Strictly Come Dancing professional dance partner Katya Jones will be returning to the show.

They were kicked off Strictly last week when Katya tested positive for Covid-19 because the BBC deemed it unfair for them to return after quarantining for 14 days.

But Nicola appeared on spin-off show Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two on Wednesday to reveal they would be making a comeback to the show.

Nicola said: "I do like doing the most, so me and Katya will be coming back." she confirmed.

Host Zoe Ball clarified that Nicola and Katya's special appearance doesn't mean they will be allowed to compete once again.

The presenter said: "She's such a little tease. They're going to dance. I can't tell you any more."

Nicola told how she struggled watching last weekend's Strictly live show because she was due to be taking part,

The Olympian said: "It was a bit weird not being part of the show, but everyone did amazingly. Anton did great as well [on the judging panel]."

Katya admitted she was "heartbroken" to have to withdraw from the series.

In a statement she shared on Twitter Katya said: "I can't even describe my feelings.

"But we're so happy that we were able to do this, hopefully, it's the start of something bigger and again, just thank you so much to everybody who has supported us on the competition and now.

"I've seen all your messages, I might not have answered to everybody, but I'm going through them and I've seen them all."

Nicola and Katya had been floating along in the middle of the leaderboard until their untimely exit, with their final dance scoring them a 19.

But on November 12, it was announced that they would be leaving the competition as Katya had tested positive for Covid-19.

Show rules meant the pair had to permanently drop out of the competition after Katya's positive test result.

The rules state that it would not be fair if they self-isolated for two weeks and then returned with a spot on the show.
