Mariah Carey ridiculed over ‘awful’ lip sync performance at Thanksgiving parade

Mariah Carey was the subject of ridicule on Thursday (November 24) following a "comical" and "awful" lip sync performance during Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The 52-year old was mocked after her performance of her smash hit 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' went horribly wrong.

Fans also described the pop superstar's showing as 'low energy', as she appeared to stand completely still throughout the song.

They soon flocked to Twitter to criticise Mariah, with one commenting: "You would think that with the amount of times Mariah Carey has lip synced her iconic song 'All I want for Christmas is you', she would have her lip syncing to a T. Her lip-syncing on Macy’s day parade is awful."

A second wrote: "Well, yet another "interesting" performance from @MariahCarey at the Thanksgiving Day parade. Not quite in sync with the lip sync all the time and was she bolted to the float?"

A third added: "We get forced to listen to Mariah Carey all Christmas season. Did we really need to see her lip sync during the Thanksgiving Day parade?"

A fourth quipped: "The stage manager of the Macy’s Day Parade must be trying to make a viral meme with how often he's closing in on Mariah Carey’s face because her lip syncing is so comical it’s cringe."

Celebrity Net Worth, meanwhile, estimates that the singer receives between £450,000 and £750,000 every December just from her Christmas hit alone.

It had grossed around £45million by 2018, according to Business Insider – some 24 years after its original release.

Mariah previously said in an interview with Billboard that Love Actually helped with the song's popularity: "The curious thing about that is that [the movie] happened before the song was as big as it is.

"So the Love Actually moment, I’m actually very grateful for it because I think it did help the song reach an even greater audience.

"But I also think the song has taken on a life of its own that I had never anticipated."
