Jamie Lynn Spears to release new book as Britney conservatorship drama continues

Britney Spears' sister Jamie Lynn is set to release a book while the singer's conservatorship battle rages on.

Things I Should Have Said is the intriguing title of Jamie Lynn Spears' memoir, due to to be released in January.

Britney's younger sibling revealed the news in a heartfelt Instagram post to her 2.2million followers.

Jamie Lynn wrote that she had wanted to tell her story around 2017, when her daughter Maddie nearly died in an all-terrain vehicle accident.

"There was a lot of personal work and healing that had to happen before I could share my truth the proper way,” she wrote.

“I’ve spent my whole life believing that I had to pretend to be perfect, even when I wasn’t, so for the first time I am opening up about my own mental health, because this process challenged me to have to be painfully honest with myself, and face a lot of hard things, that I normally would have just glossed right over, like I was taught to.”

Although Jamie Lynn doesn't name Britney in her post, it seems she is alluding to her sister's conservatorship and the ongoing family drama around it.

Britney and Jamie Lynn's father Jamie was recently removed as her conservator, causing Britney to celebrate with joyful social media posts.

Meanwhile, the book will also cover Jamie Lynn's life as Britney Spears’ sister and as a child star on Nickelodeon shows All That and Zoey 101.

She’ll also open up about becoming a mother while still a teenager and how Maddie’s accident upended her life, but also helped her to rediscover her faith.

“I owe it to myself, my younger self, and to my daughters to be an example that you should never edit yourself or your truth to please anyone else,” she added on Instagram.

Jamie Lynn ended her post by saying that she's still got a lot of learning to do, but hopes the book can help people who've lost their voice … and who are trying to break unhealthy cycles in their own lives.

She also says the proceeds are being donated to a nonprofit organisation called This Is My Brave, which encourages people who suffer from mental illness to share their stories.
