GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes has shared the devastating news that his mum Josie has died at the age of 93.

The former This Morning star shared a picture of his mum waving to him from the doorstep to his Instagram grid as he shared the news with his followers.

Eamonn wrote alongside his post: "My 4 amazing brothers and I said Goodbye for the last time to our beautiful Mum Josie this afternoon.

"She's at last reunited with Daddy now. That is our only consolation.

"We loved and will miss her so much. Every time I visited her she came to the door to bless me with Holy Water and wave goodbye. Now sadly it really is Goodbye Mummy x."

Eamonn's fans and fellow celebs soon headed to the comments section to share their condolences, with Katie Price writing: "I’m so sorry to hear this sending you love."

GMB's Susanna Reid added: "I’m so sorry. Sending love."

While weather presenter Charlotte Hawkins said: "Oh no, so very sorry. Sending love & a big hug to you."

Emily Atack responded: "Sending loads of love Eamonn," while Julia Bradbury echoed: "Love to you all Eamon. So sad."

Eamonn has previously confessed that living in England while his brothers in Northern Ireland looked after their mum took its toll on him.

He wanted to move back to Belfast to be with his mum, but work and family commitments kept him in England.

Eamonn said: "Ruth is now on her own with her mother. She’s got to be here, and we’ve got family commitments and work commitments, we’ve got a stretch of water that keeps us apart."

Organising big family events such as Christmas also proved difficult, with both spouses wanting to see their mums, which Eamonn said at the time was "very complicated".

The GB News star said he had never once flown back home to Belfast without popping in to see his mum, branding her the "queen bee" of the family.

In a recent post celebrating Mother's Day, Eamonn branded Josie his "hero" in an Instagram post, writing: "Suffice to say… She gave birth to me, she formed the man I am. She's 93, frail, but her mind is sharp as a tack. She's Josie. She's my Hero."
