Egg-gate restaurant owner restarts James Corden feud as he slams phony apology

The owner of the New York restaurant that banned James Corden for being abusive to staff has seemingly rescinded his forgiveness and re-started his row with the star.

Keith McNally, the owner of Balthazar, initially blocked Corden after he was rude to the waiting staff when they got his wife’s omelette order wrong.

The Gavin and Stacey star first denied any wrongdoing but then issued an apology and discussed the incident on his American late-night talk show but denied “yelling like crazy” and said that McNally “wasn't even there”.

So now, McNally has blasted the actor and singer again and said Corden will do anything to “save his bacon” and has “told a massive lie again”.

He added on Instagram: “On second viewing, I found his TV 'confessional' contrived and phony.

“In the scheme of things my opinion means nothing, but after Friday's interview and a second look at his fraudulent confessional, I've given up on James Corden. For Good.”

The furore apparently occurred when Corden's wife Julia Carey ordered an egg yolk omelette as she is allergic to egg white.

However, some white appeared in the dish and Corden sent it back, reportedly shouting: “You can't do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself!”

Another time, when a hair was found in his food, Corden reportedly demanded that all the drinks for his table should be “taken care of”.

McNally’s original post called Corden a “tiny cretin of a man” and that he was "the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago".

Corden rang to say sorry and all was forgiven it seems – until now.

Addressing the scandal on his show, Corden said: “I made a rude comment, and it was wrong.

“It was an unnecessary comment. It was ungracious to the server.”

He added: "It is a comment I deeply regret."

Corden also said he’s stopped Googling himself as he can’t stomach the abuse.

The Carpool Karaoke creator has also doubled down on his much-mocked excuse he was rude to restaurant staff as he was defending his wife Jules from a “serious” egg white allergy – and says he’s now sick of talking about eggs.

James moaned about the wave of hate he’s faced with online, especially after his ‘Egg-gate’ row: “I’ve just stopped reading it. I just won’t do it.

“I don’t Google myself, I don’t read anything about myself. I can remember when Keira Knightley was talking about the things that people used to write about her, and then she just realised, ‘Oh. I don’t have to read this. It’s nothing to do with me. I’ll just concentrate on the work’.”

The saga continues.

Daily Star has contacted James Corden's representatives for comment.
