Holmes explained: “Last month I suffered a fall at home while I was recovering from my back operation and fractured my shoulder. It was a massive setback and means I’m going to need to take some extra time off to get myself better.”

The GB News Breakfast presenter could be off air into the new year but he remains positive.

He admitted that he is “improving day by day,” “remaining positive” and “trying to look on the bright side” of things.

Although he is maintaining a positive attitude after his accident, it is clear that Eamonn is eager to get back to his passion.

He said: “I can’t wait to get back to work at GB News and do what I love most – presenting the news and discussing the issues of the day alongside Isabel, with our wonderful viewers and listeners.”

Eamonn issued a “big thank you” to everyone that had “sent him lovely messages” as they have “really cheered him up” and “kept him going” through this difficult time.

The accident has left him “determined” to “keep speaking up” for people who are “suffering from chronic pain” and gave a “heartfelt” thanks to the doctors and nurses who have “been looking after him”.

He branded the medical professionals “all amazing” and told them “god bless”.

Holmes’ co-star Isabel Webster recently addressed his unfortunate accident and said that their “audience is missing Eamonn,” as “she is too”.

She admitted: “It has been heartbreaking to see him in so much pain. Eamonn has had such a run of bad luck and to suffer in the way he has been, but I also know how hard he is working to get back to his best.”

Webster ended by saying that she “can’t wait to see him return” in “fighting fit” condition, “back where he belongs” – which is “sitting beside her on GB News”.
