BTS Fans Are Surprised to Learn This Little Fact About the Members

BTS fever is sweeping the nation, and fans can’t get enough of their favorite K-pop band. The group was founded in 2010 and following the ascent to stardom among Korean audiences, the band started touring America, and has experienced incredible success.

Young people especially love BTS and feel a unique connection with the group, who frequently write and sing songs about social justice issues and the emotional turmoil that teenagers have to deal with. BTS is comprised of seven members who all bring something unique to the table. That said, they all share one very surprising commonality.

How did BTS become so popular?

K-pop is a genre that was birthed in South Korea. It is known for catchy, pop-style dance songs, with productions that feature outrageous costumes often inspired by pop culture and incredible attention to detail. K-pop stars have to go through a grueling training process as they learn how to sing, dance, style themselves, and how to work within a larger group setting.

BTS is no exception to this. After their founding in 2010, the final lineup was established in 2012, its members — Suga, Jungkook, Jimin, V, J-Hope, RM, and Jin — buckled down to work on their debut album: 2 Cool 4 Skool. They didn’t experience huge success with their initial album, and it took several years of hard work and dedication before the group started getting serious traction in South Korea.

However, in 2014, BTS fever took hold in South Korea, and it was only a matter of time before their immense popularity spread to the United States. In 2018, BTS toured America, selling out stadiums left and right and gaining a lot of new fans in the process. Even people who had never listened to K-pop music before started following BTS, and within the past year, the group has achieved staggering success. BTS writes and composes many of their own songs, which makes them unique in the K-pop industry as well as the American music scene in general.

Where are the BTS group members from?

Although one of the defining elements of a successful K-pop group is that all the members be able to work well together within the group unit, each member of BTS has become popular among fans for various reasons. V has become one of the most popular group members in the United States, while lead singer Jungkook also holds high honors for fan favor. J-Hope has risen to prominence through his solo music and his admirable dedication to various charitable causes.

While BTS brings in a huge amount of cash every year, not every member of BTS earns the same amount of money. J-Hope, in addition to his popularity on social media, is also the wealthiest member of the group, with a $12 million net worth, likely due to his several solo projects. Every other band member has a net worth of around $8 million, which is still an incredibly impressive number considering their young ages.

Interestingly enough, none of the group members actually hail from Seoul, where BTS was first founded in the year 2010. Jimin and Jungkook do share the distinction of both being the only group members to come from Busan. Outside of that, all the BTS band members hail from outside of Seoul.

What’s next for BTS?

BTS just celebrated the launch of their game “BTS World,” and launched several new songs in collaboration with other artists like Charlie XCX and Zara Larsson. What the new year will hold for the K-pop icons is anyone’s guess, but clearly, BTS has proven that they have staying power as well as the drive and determination to make all of their dreams come true.
