Monkey in tutu picked up near highway in ‘banana situation’

Sheriff’s deputies in Missouri said they responded to a “banana incident” on Monday when they responded to a report of “hooligans.”
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said they discovered a spider monkey wearing a pink tutu at an unusual police station near Route 21 and Highway M in eastern Missouri. Spider monkeys are commonly found in tropical forests of Central and South America.
First responders found the subject “naked except for what looked like a tutu,” the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said in a light-hearted post on X.
“After careful negotiation, deputies were able to get close enough to handle the issue ‘in person’ and get the banana situation under control without incident,” the law enforcement agency wrote.

“Seriously, this is a perfect example of how law enforcement officers never know what they will face on any call they receive and must be prepared to handle anything that comes their way on the job,” the post continued.
“Officers surrounded the animal and eventually returned it to its caretakers. Well done to everyone involved. What a great day at #JeffCo.”
