Microsoft highlights 6 artificial intelligence trends in 2025 – Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT)

Artificial intelligence model: Microsoft expects AI models to become more powerful and useful in 2025, pointing to models with advanced inference capabilities such as OpenAI o1. Microsoft says these models will continue to advance and will create new, more useful AI experiences in 2025.
Artificial intelligence agent: The company lists AI-powered agents like Microsoft 365 Copilot as examples of how AI will become more useful in 2025 as memory and reasoning advance.
“Think of agents as applications for the age of artificial intelligence,” says Charles LaMannaVice President of Business and Vice President of Industry at Microsoft Corporation.
LaManna added: “Just like we use different applications to perform different tasks, agencies will start to transform every business process, revolutionizing the way we work and manage our organizations.”

Artificial intelligence companion: Microsoft also calls Copilot an “artificial intelligence companion” that will help users in their daily lives. The company says Copilot will continue to evolve over the next year, allowing users to be more connected and simply prioritize tasks outside of the workplace.
Scientific progress: Microsoft said artificial intelligence will also drive huge progress in scientific research. The company highlights natural sciences, sustainable materials, drug discovery and human health as areas where artificial intelligence has the potential to achieve breakthroughs in 2025.
Energy efficiency: The artificial intelligence giant believes that by 2025, the focus on improving data center energy efficiency will become standardization across the industry.

Artificial Intelligence Security: Microsoft also revealed that focusing on building artificial intelligence securely will become an industry trend in 2025.
According to the Microsoft blog: “One of the biggest developments in the coming year can be summed up in two words: testing and customization.”
The company said it will continue to build safe AI applications by developing rigorous and comprehensive testing.
“Even as models become more secure, we need to test and measure the most serious threats we see – testing that represents sophisticated adversarial users and what they are capable of,” said Sarah Birdchief product officer of Microsoft Responsible AI.
“We have the foundation in place and we will continue to iterate forward.”
