I’m a horror junkie, but two things usually stop me from seeing horror movies: bad reviews and bad covers. Unfortunately, 2015 final girl It’s both, which is why I kept ignoring this movie, no matter how many times my various arithmetic pushed it in front of me. I finally gave in and watched the movie for free on Tubi, and I’m happy to report that despite what the haters say, it’s pretty much a perfect Horror movie.
Final Girls Cast Is Eye-catching

This is the ultimate “show, don’t tell” horror movie, and that’s exactly what director Taylor Shields does. Shields is practically a professional cinematographer, and to his credit he imbues every frame of the film with his signature style, a blend of Zack Snyder’s artistic excess and Jim Jarmusch’s artistic extremes. Find a balance between minimalism.
Buffy fans take note

The bad guys are a quartet of young killers whose horrific gimmick involves choosing an unsuspecting target, leading her into the woods and revealing their plan to hunt and kill her while wearing tuxedos. The film is equally inventive, but it’s hard to appreciate it unless you look past its very over-the-top design. It’s basically a classic revenge story, but with a twist where the potential victim is ready to save the day, kind of like Buffy Summers hunting human monsters instead of undead monsters. Despite displaying some very familiar tropes, the film’s dialogue sparkles, the cinematography is stunning, and the kills are both unpredictable and satisfying, making this film more than the sum of its trope parts.
Not enough comments
Unfortunately, not everyone appreciates it final girl Almost as many as when it was released (first in limited theaters and then on VOD). On Rotten Tomatoes, the film currently has a score of 25% despite having only 12 critics. While every movie fan likes to say that critics trash their favorite movies, in this case, most critics are really wrong, complaining that the plot is too basic, the movie is too violent, etc. What did they expect? fear Movie?
indeed final girl The complex plots in Chris Nolan’s movies won’t blow your mind, but I think the best horror movies are those that follow the classic formula of cinema, e.g. Friday the 13th while still managing to surprise us with some unexpected twists and turns. That’s exactly it final girl It’s true: it takes the formula of hunting and killing unsuspecting victims in the woods, but makes those victims potential perpetrators. The result is a rare horror movie where we get to root for a brutal killer while she’s busy murdering some of the absolute worst people.
