Michelin Guide expands three new restaurant destinations in Florida

One of the world’s most prestigious cooking guides continues to expand its North American reach.
Michelin Guide announced this week that it will choose from in Florida through three new destinations in 2025.
This year will join restaurants in Fort Lauder, Palm Beach and Pinellas counties to join the Miami, Orlando and Tampa areas.

Starting from 2026, Florida’s expansion will further develop and become a statewide choice.
“Florida continues to improve the bar with its emerging culinary talent, international influence and obvious enthusiasm in the local restaurant community,” Gwendal Poullennec, international director of Michelin Guide, said in a press release.

“Over the past three years, Florida’s choices have grown and strengthened as our inspectors discover. We look forward to exploring these new destinations and highlighting the excellence of their local restaurants.”
The first Michelin guide in North America was released in New York in 2005. In the 20 years since, there are 14 more guides – most of them in the pandemic era.
San Francisco added a guide in 2007, Chicago in 2011, Washington, D.C. in 2017 and California in 2019.

Five Regions – Florida has three and Canada has two – received its own guide in 2022.
Miami, Orlando and Tampa were the first cities to represent Florida, while Canada made its debut with Toronto and Vancouver.

Colorado and Atlanta were added in 2023. Texas was added last year along with Mexico and Quebec.
Michelin Guide spokesman Carly Grieff told Fox News Numbers that the inspection team conducted a preliminary study of the region before a given state or country has established a new guide. “During the evaluation of this destination, inspectors evaluated the main major cooking hotspots of the first selection. ”

Grieff added: “With the long-term work of the Michelin Guide, we often observe its geographical expansion in a country, region or country over time, which is evident in the expansion to three new destinations. 2025 Florida Choice.”

The latest expansion offers restaurants in these areas the opportunity to win coveted Michelin stars.
The Michelin Star is considered one of the most respected and influential restaurant rankings, as well as Zagat.

Michelin Guide Inspectors visit the restaurant anonymously and judge it according to the following criteria: the quality of the ingredients used, mastery of flavor and cooking techniques, the chef’s personality in food, the value and consistency between visits.
