Mercer Island detectives seek public’s help identifying hate crime suspect
Mercer Island police are seeking the public’s help in identifying two suspects involved in a hate crime at Islander Middle School, according to a statement released by Mercer Island.
On January 1, two individuals invaded the school campus and defaced the exterior of the building with anti-Semitic and racist symbols and phrases.
Authorities are investigating the incident as a hate crime.
Police released descriptions of two suspects.
The first man wore camouflage pants, a black balaclava covering his nose and mouth, and a “Paradise Varsity Bomber Jacket” made by PacSun.
The second suspect was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark sweatpants. He also wore a red mask or bandana covering his nose and mouth.
Neither suspect was wearing a mask in the surveillance photo.
