Mariano Rivera’s wife accused of covering up child sex abuse at home and church

A new lawsuit in New York accuses Mariano Rivera and his wife Clara of ignoring incidents of sexual abuse of minors that occurred at their home and church.
The New York Yankees legend is the pastor of Hope Shelter Church in New Rochelle, about 15 miles from where he played.
However, “Jane Doe” stated that she was sexually abused by an older girl “MG” during her summer internship in 2018.

The internship was at Ignite Life Center in Gainesville, Florida, which is affiliated with Rivera’s church.
The victim’s mother notified Clara of the abuse, and she promised to investigate, the lawsuit states. But they allegedly covered it up.
“Rather than take adequate action to end the sexual abuse of Jane Doe, the Riveras separately isolated and intimidated Jane Doe into silence about MG’s abuse in order to avoid giving Hope Shelter and Ignite Life summer internships,” the lawsuit states. Bring trouble.
The lawsuit also alleges that MG abused the victim at a barbecue at Rivera’s residence that summer.

“At any relevant time, [the Riveras] “Knowed or should have known before and during the barbecue that MG was at risk of child sexual abuse,” the lawsuit reads.
“To avoid potential child sex abuse scandals on its shows and to otherwise protect [themselves] Most importantly, Riveras… rest assured [Doe’s mother] That [Doe] Despite actual or constructive knowledge that Doe remains vulnerable to further sexually abusive behavior from MG, she is safe and in no danger at Ignite Life Center.
A few months later, in January 2019, Rivera became the first and only player to be unanimously elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Later that year, President Donald Trump awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom during his first term as president.
