In his first speech to Congress on Tuesday, President Trump vowed not to raise tariffs on the U.S.’s largest trading partner, but appears ready to go with Ukrainian President Ukraine’s president days after the Oval Office blast, he threatened to abandon key allies with the invasion strike.
In a 100-minute speech, it was the longest presidential speech to Congress in modern history – Mr. Trump read aloud about the gratitude Mr. Zelensky posted on social media earlier that day. Mr. Trump said he appreciated the message and received a “strong signal” from Russia that the country desires peace.
“Isn’t that beautiful?” Mr. Trump said.
He has had quite a few reconciliations against Canada, Mexico and China because tariffs were imposed earlier in the day and raising responsibility for the global market from national leaders. The president said nothing in his speech Tuesday night, suggesting that a trade war could be avoided.
“Whatever they tariff, other countries, we will tariff,” he said. “Whatever they tax us, we will tax them. If they take non-monetary tariffs to get us out of the market, then we will take non-monetary barriers to keep it away from the market.”
The president’s speech jointly emphasized the chaos and whip-up nature of the opening week of Trump’s second term. Many long speeches were filled with dissatisfaction with the treatment of the Democrats and exaggerated his achievements. It has limited six weeks of action since Mr. Trump took office, which he fired government workers, frozen foreign aid, subverted the international league, pardoned the thugs and issued a large number of execution orders.
“Six weeks ago, I stood under the dome of this Capitol and announced the dawn of the American Golden Age,” Trump said. “From that moment, it was nothing more than a quick and humble action that could usher in the greatest and most successful era in our country’s history.”
From the first moment of his speech, Mr. Trump declared that “the United States is back” and he faced the heck of the Democrats. Democrats barely applauded, while Republicans cheered enthusiastically. It exposed deep differences between Congress and the country when Democrat Al Green, from Texas, repeatedly shouted “You don’t have authorization” and refused to sit down.

“People sitting here do not clap, do not stand, and will not cheer for these astronomy achievements,” Trump said, saying he was not accepted by Democrats in the room. “They won’t do it anyway.”
In recent years, in the presidential speech, Marjorie Taylor Greene, the representative of the Georgia Republican Party, had other outbreaks during the Biden and Obama administrations, including Joe Wilson, the representative of the South Carolina Republican Party, during the presidential speech. Both remain in the room after the president was interrupted.
Days after threatening to abandon European allies in the war and start a trade war, Mr. Trump did not provide new policy advice, repeatedly devastating former president Joseph R. Biden Jr.
The president has not been involved in foreign policy, although he again threatened to annex the Panama Canal, saying: “My government will take back the Panama Canal, and we have already started to do so.”
He said he wanted to build a “golden dome” to protect the United States from missile attacks and create a new shipyard and try to attract Greenland to leave Denmark and join the United States. He also announced that the United States has arrested a terrorist who organized bombings of the monastery as it evacuated from Afghanistan.
Mr. Trump spent a lot of time telling stories about Americans he invited to watch his address in the gallery, including victims of violent immigration and a boy who dreamed of becoming a policeman.
Throughout the process, he seemed fascinated by his political rivals. At one point, he signaled to Democrats that the country’s justice system had been taken over by the “radical left LUNATICS”. In response, progressive members of the party raised groups of “false” and “this is a lie”.
Many Democrats protested a small protest, stood up and turned around on their backs of T-shirts, saying “resistance.” Instead of risking being evacuated by sergeants, the group quietly walked out of the house floor.
Other Democrats opted out of the speech, including Maxwell Frost, a representative of the Florida Democratic Party, who wore a shirt that said “No King Lives Here.”
“I can’t sit in this speech with conscience and present the audience to those who have no legal action,” said Ayanna Pressley, Democratic Representative of Massachusetts.
Mr. Trump accused Democrats of ignoring the “common sense revolution” that he and his administration have begun to implement. He despised his election victory, mocked them for speaking to opponents in the audience, mocked their ability to evade prosecution and called Mr. Biden the worst president in American history.
At one point, the president compared the treatment he received on the internet to victims of revenge porn, saying, “No one has done worse online than I did.”
Mr. Trump mistakenly claimed that he inherited Mr. Biden’s “economic disaster.” In fact, when Trump took over, the U.S. economy was the strongest in the world, but it has been showing signs of pressure in recent weeks due to cuts in federal funding and tariffs.
The president focused on what he claimed was fraud in the federal bureaucracy discovered by Elon Musk and the Ministry of Efficiency. In a few minutes, Mr. Trump listed foreign aid and diversity programs that his administration had eliminated, mocking them as unnecessary.
“No one has heard of the 8 million promotion of LGBTQI+ in the African country of Lesotho,” the president said.
House Republican leaders have advised their members to stop holding face-to-face city halls amid a massive protest against some budgets. Even so, many Republican lawmakers jumped in their own steps and cheered the president for mentioning Mr. Musk sitting in the gallery.
As he has done in his past speech, Mr. Trump repeated false and exaggerated claims throughout the speech, prompting Democrats to react in the chamber.
“That’s not true,” said Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whispered: “That’s not true.” Republicans, by contrast, broke down, and one person shouted “Joe Biden” when Trump asserted that someone on Social Security was over 300.
Mr. Trump’s speech at the joint Congress may seem like a state of union speech, and it sounds like a, but that’s not – at least technically not. Starting with Ronald Reagan in 1981, all presidents gave speeches to Congress shortly after they took office, and then gave them again every year. Only those who have been in office after their first year are considered ITU addresses.
George Washington started the tradition, and the annual speech was terminated by the third president, Thomas Jefferson, who chose to report in writing. Woodrow Wilson resumed his speech in 1913.
The speech began, South Dakota Republican Senator John Thune and Majority Leader said he hoped some of Mr. Trump’s extreme moves would be temporary.
“It’s a pause, not a stop; I think it’s part of the negotiations. In the new tariffs, Mr Thun said: “I think these tariffs are temporary.” ”
House Republicans will certainly be even more excited.
“I want to make a picture with gold-plated gold,” said speaker Mike Johnson before the speech.
