Man’s pop-up urinal death may never be explained, family worry

A man’s family was crushed to death in a weird accident. People worried that they might never find out what caused him to the sudden drop of the urinal.

Kevin Holding, a 60-year-old maintenance engineer, was killed while working at SOHO on January 27, 2023. His inquiry heard that it took two hours for a crane to remove the urinal from him.

His daughter, Karlie Holding, 37, said the lack of answers about how he was crushed was “disgusting” and “disrespectful”. She told BBC London: “The whole family is completely different: we are a very broken family.”

Det Ch Insp Dean Purvis of the Metropolitan Police Department is still investigating the death of the Metropolitan Police Department apologized to the shares.

“We are sorry for the impact this has had on everyone in Mr. Holding’s family,” he said.

In 2002, pop-up toilets were launched in central London to stop urination on the streets. During the day, they are stored under the sidewalk and at night they are hydraulically raised.

Karlie of Sevenoaks, Kent, added that Mr Holding’s parents were “knocked six” in the 1980s.

Her grandparents were both in the 80s, she said: “One of their biggest fears is that they would never find out before they were.

“We are not closed, we can’t mourn properly, close that chapter and live our lives in honor of Dad and build our family.

“We are still in this gray area and we don’t know what happened, how he died, so we can’t rest in peace.”

His inquiry was told that Mr. Beckenham, from southeast London, was trapped under the urinal of the telescope, when he landed on him while working on the equipment.

I heard about how emergency services arrived at the toilets worked hard at around 13:05 GMT but couldn’t release him.

The work he did was on behalf of Westminster City Council, which expressed “the deepest sympathy for Kevin Holden’s family and friends.”

“We are assisting the Metropolitan Police in the investigation into the incident,” a health and safety executive spokesperson said in a statement.

“This is a complex case and it has been spent some time getting interim expert reports from the health and safety director,” Det Ch Insp purvis added.

In response, Ms Holding said: “I wasn’t surprised by their price cuts.

“Do your job. Remember, you’re dealing with someone’s family. Give us the respect we deserve. We want to act now.”

Ms Holding said: “I really believe that because he passed away, they have been forgetting my father’s case.

“That’s not to say we even have a schedule – I think it’s disgusting.”

As for the impact on the wider family, she added: “Our lives have been on hold – we did nothing.

“We’re just on the coast. It’s horrible.”

This time last year, Metropolitan Police admitted that “there was no support for the family expected in the past year.”

The family told BBC London that the Metropolitan has since appointed a family liaison officer.

Det Ch Insp purvis said: “We’ve thought it over carefully [HSE report’s] Wait for some final suggestions before we decide what to do next.

“We admit that this investigation has been going on for a long time.”
