Man accused of raping suburban Cincinnati Metro employee at gunpoint and robbing store
Sharonville police are seeking information about a man accused of raping a Subway restaurant employee at gunpoint Thursday morning.
Leyard Eckis, 20, was charged in Hamilton County Municipal Court with rape and aggravated robbery. Judge Heather Russell set bail at $100,000 during Friday morning’s arraignment, court records show.
Ekis followed the victim into the restaurant, then pointed a gun at her, forced her to take off her clothes and raped her, police said in an affidavit. He then stole money from the register and fled the scene on his bicycle, documents state.
Officers were dispatched to the Mosteller Road restaurant just after 7 a.m. and then to a nearby gas station, where they found Ekis armed with a handgun and cash, police said.

When Ekis spoke to police, he admitted taking money from the business and “having sex with the victim,” documents state.
Police said Ekis’ arrest was based on video evidence and statements the victim gave investigators.
Ekis’ public defender, Robert Jones, declined to comment on the case Friday.
Ekis was transported to the Hamilton County Justice Center Thursday morning. A grand jury is expected to hear his case by Dec. 23.
