Local TV meteorologist bids farewell after layoffs

About 100 meteorologists across the United States said goodbye after being laid off. Dozens of meteorologists, including Patrice Dayton and Kevin Allpult, bid farewell to the audience. The affected stations are owned by billionaire Byron Allen, who also owns The Weather Channel. Allen’s television group said in a statement that weather reporting duties for local stations are being taken over by The Weather Channel.
