The couple ended in September 2021, with their first baby welcomed their first baby through an agent after three years of marriage. Collins and McDowell joined the joint baby announcement via Instagram in January 2025, “Welcome to the heart of our world.”
On the same day, McDowell wrote a criticism of “the road to having a baby” via Instagram, “You can’t be a surrogate expert.”
He added: “It is okay to not know why someone might need a surrogacy to have a child. No matter your assumption, it is OK to know the agent’s motivation. And it is OK to spend less time spraying hateful words into the world. OK, especially about a beautiful baby girl who brings a lot of love to people.”
McDowell ended with an interesting note and wrote, “That’s the moment, because she’s just pooping and I need to change my diapers.”
