If you don’t already know about the affordable beauty brand The Ordinary, you should do. Launching just over four years ago, the bargain skincare line is hugely popular with beauty fans.

And one product recently went viral on TikTok for clearing one user’s acne – quickly selling out everywhere.

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution, £6.30 here, became the talk of the town on the social media platform after TikTok user Kaelyn White used the serum to transform her skin from blemish-prone to clear and radiant.

The bizarre, bright red product, which looks a little like blood, has since been incredibly difficult to get hold of, often selling out in seconds and gathering a waitlist of 104,000 on Cult Beauty. But the wait is finally over as this wonder product is officially back in stock.

A favourite with beauty fans and influencers, the bargain treatment is a 10-minute exfoliating serum that uses AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) to give the skin a brighter, more even appearance, while BHA (beta hydroxy acid) helps to clear congested pores – and all for less than a tenner.

The hero product is now available to purchase online at Cult Beauty – but you’ll have to be quick, as we predict the radiance-boosting serum is sure to be a sell-out again.

But don’t just take our word for its effectiveness – there are hundreds of five-star reviews for it on the beauty e-tailer’s website, with one shopper claiming that since using the serum their “acne scars had completely vanished”.

“It faded my scars, my face is brighter, and I am on my third bottle,” another happy customer said.

“Works magic and costs pennies,” another said. “Everyone should have it in their skincare cabinet.”

To this day, the hashtag #theordinary has over 678 million views on TikTok, with many beauty fans sharing their results from using this particular product.

Though the social media platform is full of gleaming reviews, some beauty fans have also shared the potential side-effects of using an acid-based product, and shared tips for applying it safely.

One dermatologist advised applying a skin protectant like CeraVe Healing Ointment, £11.96 here, to sensitive areas like under the eyes and around the nose and lips, and suggested that you should use just four drops of The Ordinary serum over your entire face.

The treatment should only be left on for 10 minutes before washing it off, to ensure the high percentage of acids don’t irritate the skin.

If you’re hoping to try out the product yourself, we recommend doing your research first and always read the label.
