DEAR DEIDRE: SEX has become so painful that I can no longer climax.
I’m a 53-year-old woman with back and hip problems.
Recently I’ve been having horrible shooting pains from my bottom, all down my leg, which I’ve been told are sciatica.
The worst thing is that they’re stopping me from enjoying sex with my husband, who is 55.
Whenever I’m on the brink of orgasm, and my body arches, the pain pierces right through me like an electric shock, and all the pleasure disappears.
I’m frustrated and in agony, and I also have difficulty walking.
My husband gets upset seeing me in so much pain, and it’s putting us both off sex. Please help.

DEIDRE SAYS: This must be distressing for you both. Are you getting any medical help for your sciatica?
Speak to your GP, as physiotherapy or pain-killing injections could help.
In the meantime, it might be a case of trying different sex positions, until you find one you can tolerate.
Read my support pack on Sex Positions. Supporting your body with cushions could also help.
