DEAR DEIDRE: MY girlfriend goes to the shops “for milk” but comes home three hours later.
She’s constantly on her phone to another man.
But if I dare to question her commitment or whether I can trust her, she says I’m immature and possessive.
I’m a 28-year-old man and she is 27. We have a two-year-old son who we both adore, but increasingly I’m left home to take care of him while she parties.
I’m starting to wonder why I feel so unsettled.
Shouldn’t I be able to let her go out and enjoy herself?
My mum says she’s gaslighting me. But surely it’s only women who can be gaslit?

DEIDRE SAYS: This is essentially emotional abuse and can happen to anyone.
It’s time to talk to your girlfriend and let her know her behaviour is completely unacceptable.
Growing up in this environment is damaging for your son.
Suggest couple counselling so you can both get support.
If your partner refuses, please consider whether you would be better off without her.
