Full list of 2021 bank holidays so you can plan for family getaways next year

It’s time to put 2020 behind us and focus on what will hopefully be a brighter and more enjoyable year ahead.

Something that the coronavirus pandemic ruined for many was the opportunity to go away, whether it be for an extended summer holiday or just a few days over a bank holiday weekend.

Hopefully things will get back to some sort of normality in 2021, meaning more of us can enjoy some time away.

If you want to get stuck into planning for the year ahead, it makes sense to take note of the bank holiday days for 2021.

For those wanting to plan their long weekends in 2021, these are the dates to remember:

Friday January 1: New Year’s Day

Friday April 2: Good Friday

Monday April 5: Easter Monday

Monday May 3: Early May bank holiday

Monday May 31: Spring bank holiday

Monday August 30: Summer bank holiday

Monday December 27: Substitute for Christmas Day

Tuesday December 28: Substitute for Boxing Day

There are no additional bank holidays in 2021, but there is scheduled to be an extra day in 2022 to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Then, the spring bank holiday traditionally on the last Monday of May will move to the first Friday of June (June 3), with the day before also a bank holiday (Thursday June 2).

This will mean a four-day weekend at the very start of June, and the chance to get a full week off work by just taking just three days of leave.
