Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree purchased a 19th-century chateau in France, and have allowed the public to watch their renovation journey.

Married couple Dick and Angel have starred in eight seasons of Escape to the Chateau, starting in 2016.

The ninth and final series is due to begin tonight – Sunday October 3 – at 8pm on Channel 4.

The couple initially purchased the chateau for a modest £280,000 but has since dramatically increased in value.

But what kind of work did Dick and Angel have to do to make the property the beauty it is now?

When the couple purchased the chateau, it was in a totally uninhabitable state.

The renovators and lovebirds had to install running water, heating and electricity after the property had stood empty for 40 years.

This was far from an easy job, as the huge home boasts an immense 45 rooms.

And it was also a far from relaxed job, as the couple had an important deadline to meet.

Dick and Angel had planned to get married in the chateau a mere 10 months after purchasing the property.

According to Exact Net Worth, Dick has a net worth of a whopping $3million (around £2.5million).

On top of the property’s value, Dick and Angel make money hiring out the venue for occasions such as weddings.

The couple also have a tour called Dare to Do It, which they are taking to Australia.

They are also the authors of A Year at the Chateau, Living the Chateau Dream and a patisserie book called The Vintage Tea Party.

They have collaborations with companies such as Next and Home Base for those who want a taste of the French chateau in their own homes.

Dick and Angel have two children together, Arthur and Dorothy, who have been featured in previous series’.
