Lansing City Council takes action against adult club

Lansing, Michigan (WLNS) – City leaders say they are tired of the violence being carried out by local gentlemen’s clubs and are taking action to stop it.

Lansing City Council President Ryan Kost said South Lansing’s Centerfolds has a long history of problematic history and is now looking to revoke the company’s cabaret license. City prosecutors have begun the process, and despite the club’s many problems over the years, it is the first time they have tried to revoke the center’s permit.

“Centerfolds has had many problems over the past 20 years,” Coster said.

He said the bill to revoke the club’s license was followed by a recent shooting at the club.

“I think the shootings and murders are a big danger to the city,” Coster said.

Christopher Bonilla Sr., 45, was shot dead inside the club last Sunday. Two people were shot dead in 2016, and in 2013, a 21-year-old man was shot dead.

Coster said city prosecutors are currently collecting information from the club. City leaders will then arrange a hearing, after which the city council will vote.

“We just received the authorization letter from the police chief,” Coster said.

Coster said the city puts residents first to make sure that something like this doesn’t happen again.

“When this happens, we take it seriously,” Coster said. “We take the safety of people in this community seriously.”

Lansing Police Department said they would not be called to the center for a frequent break, but when they reacted to the phone, officers knew that the crime was being reported.

6 News gave the administrator of the center’s discount to the management, but they did not call back.
