Tulsi Gabbard faces next Senate challenge

Former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard will face another exam in the Senate on Monday night as she hopes to confirm one of the most important national security positions in the U.S. administration.
President Donald Trump’s nominee as Director of the National Intelligence Agency (DNI) will conduct a inventory vote at 5:30 p.m., when she will need to get more than 50 votes to get a final confirmed vote.
If the Cloture motion passes, the Senate floor will have a 30-hour debate. Usually, in the “time agreement” between Republicans and Democrats, the debate between the plate motion and the final vote is minimized. However, due to the controversial nature of the Gabbard nomination and the ongoing frustration of the Ministry of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and its government audits, there is no expected agreement.

This will allow Gabbard to hold a final confirmation vote as early as Wednesday when the 30-hour debate expires.
Last week, the nominees won R-Maine’s key GOPSens from the Senate Intelligence Choice Committee. Support from SusanCollins and R-Ind.

Her success in inventory motions and final confirmation is much better than her initial odds on the Intel Committee.
To gain support from Republicans on all committees, Chairman Tom Cotton, R-ARK. and Vice President JD Vance go all out. Their dialogue and relentless efforts with committee members were considered to have lifted her out of key obstacles.

In the last vote, Gabbard could only get any democratic support like the committee vote, and could only lose three Republican votes.
With Collins supporting her, she already has an advantage over Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. The Senator is one of three votes against Heggs.

Despite Gabbard’s limited vote, Republicans seem to be confident in her odds. This is a signal through the White House’s events and meetings sent to Europe during Gabbard’s inventory and confirmation vote. If Republicans want Vance to break the draw in the House of Lords, they may not vote this week.
