The greatest nation in the history of the world had just endured four years of devastating inflation, open borders, failure on the global stage, rising crime, a rejection of common sense, and a steady diet of radical woke ideology. But six weeks ago, the American people boldly declared that enough was enough. Seventy-seven million voters delivered an overwhelming political victory to President-elect Trump. He won the popular vote, captured every swing state, and gained an undeniable mission to restore American strength and prosperity.
Republicans also gained control of both chambers of Congress to help President Trump implement his “America First” agenda from day one. The horrific failures of President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi must be addressed immediately.
When the lives and livelihoods of the American people are threatened, they cannot wait for rescue. As Republican leadership in Congress, we have prepared an aggressive plan to remove any obstacles and provide a glide path to President Trump’s reform and policy agenda. He will use his executive powers to quickly address the many crises left behind by the Biden administration, but President Trump’s legacy and transformational change must be solidified by Congress.
Trump gives Johnson ‘full, full endorsement’ ahead of speaker battle
With a unified legislative branch, we will hit the ground running the moment the 119th Congress begins. Over the past year, even as media pundits scoffed at the idea of Republican control of Washington, House Republicans prepared for the opportunity. We take the lead in crafting legislative solutions to end the disaster at the border, restore American energy dominance, cut taxes for families and job creators, and restore common sense. Throughout the campaign cycle, we explained how our principles and ideas were helping President Trump turn the country around.
To realize this vision, we must remain united. Despite the popularity of President-elect Trump’s campaign promises, congressional Democrats will do whatever they can to stop us. Every major decision requires near-unanimous approval from House Republicans. We have neither time nor votes.
President Trump will return to Washington in 2025, and it will be very different than when he first arrived in 2017, and the situation will be very different now than it was eight years ago.

Congressional Republicans have campaigned on President Trump’s “America First” agenda. His cabinet selections and transition actions have the support of the people. World leaders and even former political opponents are welcoming him back to office. Several House leaders has been working with President Trump’s team for months to achieve his goals.
Consider the budget reconciliation process as evidence. In 2017, congressional Republicans were deeply divided over the size and scope of the legislation. Failure to plan properly limits the president’s ability to carry out his agenda. This time we have an agenda full of ideas that are already endorsed by a majority of Americans across the country. The only thing that can stand in the way of successful legislation is Congress itself.
Through reconciliation, we will work to ensure that President Trump has every resource available to reverse the surge in illegal immigration that is invading our country and wreaking havoc on our communities. We will stop the largest tax increase in American history. We will revive the economy and reduce the inflation of Bidenomics. We will restore America’s energy dominance and repeal the destructive Green New Deal. We will reduce the size and scope of government and once again increase its efficiency and accountability.
There is a palpable sense of excitement and new hope in the country, and for good reason. The American people are ready to stop losing and start winning again, and now is the time.
