Maya Hawke claims some producers cast based on the number of their Instagram followers
Maya Hawke claims that the scale of actors’ social media attention is becoming an important factor in the casting decisions of some producers and whether or not a movie can be made.
The 26-year-old actress is the daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman when she appeared on the “Happy and Sad Confusion” podcast.
However, she believes actors are expected to share more personal lives in the social media era, and their number of followers is becoming increasingly important to their careers.
“I think the line between actors and celebrities has become very blurred,” said Stranger Things. “And I think that in some ways, celebrities are people who are their personality that are attractive. I always want to be an actor, not a personality, not a personality. But the industry is changing all the time and you have to change it, and It becomes blurred to know all of these things.”

Hawke explained that some producers insist that the number of actors’ Instagram followers must meet a project’s quota in order to move forward.
“I don’t care about Instagram. Instagram sucks. Yes, well, if you have so many followers, you can get funded for this movie.” “It’s a really confusing route. .”

Hawke recalls she had spoken with “so many smart directors” about how she wanted to delete her Instagram account, but they warned her that it would affect their actor decisions.
“They were like, ‘You know, when I was playing movies with some producers, they brought my sheets to my collective followers, I had to get the cast of my cast, so if you deleted Instagram, I Lost those followers and understand that these are the people I need to throw around you.”

However, Hawke noted that a few directors are not subject to casting decisions made by their actors.

“There are several directors, maybe ten directors, whose reputation is wide enough and shows how capable they work and what they can do, and they get a lot of freedom and a lot of privacy,” she said.
Hawke continued: “And, they don’t have to have a thousand more BTS guys, shoot the footage and ask you to make a video saying you peel the orange on the side of the suit.”

“You can really focus and sit there and make movies with them,” she added. “And I have enough honor to be able to really work with three people. I have to work with three sets like this. I have to work with three sets like this. I have to work with Quentin Cooperation [Tarantino]I had to work with Bradley Cooper and then with Wes Anderson. ”

In 2019, Hawke starred in Tarantino’s comedy movie “Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood.” The actress appeared in Cooper’s 2023 biopic “Maestro”, based on legendary conductor Leonard Bernstein and his wife Felicia Monterey Felicia Montealegre relationship. Hawe is a member of Anderson’s star-studded ensemble in the 2023 science fiction drama “The City of Little Will”.
Hawke currently has 8.9 million followers on Instagram.
