Experts slam Newsom over reports of helping illegal immigrants evade Trump policies: ‘Destructive leadership’
California Gov. Gavin Newsom reportedly plans to help illegal immigrants and their families threatened by President-elect Trump’s mass deportation plan, a plan that was slammed Thursday as a sign of “destructive leadership,” two days ago Earlier, POLITICO published details of an internal memo detailing the plans.
“We just had an election on November 5th. People voted for safe borders, safe streets, and knew that the president was going to initiate deportations not just because he wanted to, but because we just had about 12 million people come into this country and have to deal with the last four “What happened in 2016 was to do something about it, and now he wants to use state funds and state infrastructure to flout federal law,” Friend said on the show.

People who are violating the law in this country and are also violating the laws of the jurisdiction where they reside in California.

The memo, titled “Immigration Support Network Concept,” proposes “the creation of an immigration support network composed of regional ‘hubs’ that connect at-risk individuals, their families, and communities to community systems (e.g., legal services, schools, labor) stand up.
The draft plan, while “few details” and “still under review,” appears to echo broader efforts by blue-state Democrats to challenge Trump’s strict stance on illegal immigration. After Trump was elected, Newsom called a special legislative session and talked about a $25 million “anti-Trump” legal defense fund.
When contacted about the reported proposal, Gov. Newsom’s office previously told Fox News Digital that the document had not yet been reviewed in Sacramento, adding that it was drafted by the state’s Department of Social Services.

Scott Murray, deputy director of public affairs and outreach programs at the Department of Social Services, told Fox Digital News that the document “is not a final proposal.”
“This document is a draft for internal review and is intended for internal discussion as part of some possible considerations for the incoming federal government’s public rhetoric,” he said in a statement.
