JD Vance confirms Daniel Penney will play in Army vs. Navy game after acquittal in subway choking trial

Vice President-elect J.D. Vance confirmed Friday that Daniel Penny, the Marine veteran who was acquitted in the Jordan Neely subway choking incident, has officially accepted an invitation to serve as his annual Guest Army-Navy Game in Landover, Maryland.
NOTUS reporter Reese Gorman first reported that Penny had been invited early Friday morning, adding that he would be traveling to a suite at Northwest Stadium with President-elect Donald Trump. Commander Washington.

Vance responds Penny’s attendance was confirmed on social media.

“Daniel is a good guy and New York’s mob district attorney is trying to ruin his life because he has a backbone,” Vance wrote in a post on X.
“I am grateful that he accepted my invitation and hope he will enjoy himself and appreciate the admiration his fellow countrymen have for his courage.”
Penny, 26, was charged with manslaughter and manslaughter for strangling Neely to death on the subway in May 2023. A man known to have synthetic marijuana broke into a train shouting death threats.

Daniel Penney found not guilty in subway chokehold trial
A jury failed to reach a decision last week on a second-degree manslaughter charge. Prosecutors moved to dismiss the charge, and the judge allowed jurors to consider the second charge alone and found Penny not guilty on Monday.
Penny is expected to attend the 125th meeting with Trump and Vance black knight and midshipmen. Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis will also attend Saturday’s game, sources told Fox News Digital last week.

This season has been a banner year for both football programs, adding heat to the annual rivalry. The two teams have a combined 19 wins this year, more than air force, The Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy will be awarded to the winner of Saturday’s game.
This will also mark the fifth time Trump has attended the Army-Navy game. He first attended in 2016 and attended three times during his first term.
