Jamie Foxx had ‘brain bleed leading to stroke’ and didn’t ‘remember 20 days’ while in weeks-long coma

Jamie Foxx is back and better than ever.

In his Netflix comedy special Jamie Foxx: What Happened, he detailed what led to his medical emergency. The special was filmed in Atlanta in October.

Throughout the special, Foxx was moved to tears multiple times as he explained to fans what led him to a week-long coma.

“I’m fighting for my life,” Fox began to explain. “On April 11, I had a terrible headache and I asked my son for an aspirin… and before I got the aspirin… I was out. I don’t remember 20 days. “

The “Beat Shazam” host said he passed out and was in a coma for weeks and was close to death. Fox’s health deteriorated severely and his vital signs declined.

After Fox went to the first doctor, they gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home. However, his sister Deidra Dixon recalled that Fox was “lethargic” and knew something was “off” with him. She continued to search for other hospitals and urged doctors to further help her brother.

While Fox was hospitalized, doctors told his family that “he had a brain bleed that caused a stroke.”

“If I don’t get into his brain now, we’re going to lose him,” the Piedmont Hospital doctor declared.

After Fox’s surgery, his doctor told his sister: “You’re right, your prayers were answered. We didn’t find out where it came from, but he is Stroke. He might be able to make a full recovery, but it would be the worst year of his life.

Fox continued, “I was dizzy from the stroke…I don’t remember 20 days. On May 4th, I woke up. When I woke up, I found myself in a wheelchair. I couldn’t walk.”

The “Django Unchained” actor thought his stroke was a “prank” at the time. Fox won’t “don’t have a stroke.”

“Listen, you gotta kill this whole Jamie Foxx thing, stop this arrogant bull, that stroke doesn’t give a damn who you are,” the therapist told him.

Fox claims that moment brought reality into perspective for him, and he recovered from the situation and worked hard to recover.

Fox was filming the upcoming Netflix movie “Back in Action” with Cameron Diaz in Georgia when the medical scare occurred. He was being treated at a Georgia hospital because he was “getting checked out.” Fox returns to action with Back in Action in January 2024.

Fox said his daughters, Corinne and Anelise, and his sister were “under control” at the hospital. Colleen refused to let anyone visit Fox because she didn’t want anyone to see him in the hospital. He revealed that doctors gave him “every drug” but none of them “worked.”

Fox added that during his near-death experience, he relied heavily on his faith until he witnessed a miracle.

Anneliese played guitar for him while he was in a coma. Once guitar playing became a regular activity at the hospital, Fox’s vital signs miraculously began to improve.

“My vital signs were so bad that they were going to lose me. And that’s when a miracle happened, and it’s happening to my youngest daughter. She’s 14 years old – I didn’t want her to see me like this, but she secretly Sneaked into my room.

“When she played, my vital signs… dropped… It was God in the guitar. A mental defibrillator.”

Although doctors could not explain what exactly happened to Fox, he finally woke up from his coma after his daughter continued to play guitar for him.

Meanwhile, in a Netflix special, Fox compared Sean “Diddy” Combs to the devil.

“Your life doesn’t flash in front of you. It’s a strange calm. I see the tunnel. I don’t see the light,” Fox said.

“It’s a little hot in the tunnel… Did I go to the wrong place? I looked at the end of the tunnel and I thought I saw the devil… or was that Puffy? I was walking around, but if that was Puffy, he had a bottle of burning Johnson’s beer… No, I’m just kidding.

Fox addressed the suggestion that Combs was responsible for his hospitalization.

“The internet says ‘Puffy tried to kill me.’ I know what you’re thinking ‘Dad? ‘Oh my God – I left their party early.. I was out by 9:00 – something didn’t look right. It’s slippery here.

The comedian said in his special, “If I can keep my humor, I can survive,” and he’s said it in several performances, including a stand-up set with President-elect Donald Trump.

In April 2023, a medical scare on Fox made headlines.

Corinne revealed on April 12 that her father was recovering from medical complications.

“Thankfully, thanks to quick action and great care, he is on the road to recovery,” she wrote on social media at the time. “We know how much he is loved and thank you for your prayers.” At this time, his family has requested privacy.”
