Jimmy Butler allegedly owes $260,000 in unpaid rent for Miami property

NBA stars Jimmy Butler The charge was filed for allegedly failing to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in property damage and unpaid rent for his Florida home.

On Friday, February 28, local news station WSVN-TV reported for the first time that Butler, 35, was sued by a Florida company’s five-star marketing and promotion company.

In addition to the rent-back debt, the Golden State Warriors forward allegedly left over $127,000 in property damage. In February, Butler traded from the Miami Heat to the San Francisco-based Warriors.

Five-star marketing, which owns Miami property, filed a civil lawsuit against Butler in the 11th Circuit Court of Florida, accusing NBA stars of failing to pay two months of rent for their Miami property, at $130,000 a month.

The company claims Butler remains in the House even after the two-year lease ended in August 2024. The lawsuit also accused Butler of changing the lock to a home and refusing to give the keys to a property manager who blocked maintenance personnel from entering and maintaining the property.

The damages listed in the lawsuit are failure to maintain the swimming pool, resulting in algae growth and the air conditioning system on the property. The latter caused “a lot of mold damage” throughout the property and now, according to court documents, hardwood floors and ceilings need to be replaced.

The five-star marketing and promotion company claimed in the lawsuit that the company “lost $387,282 in losses” and is therefore paying Butler $257,282 and entitled to guarantee its $130,000 margin.

Built in 2016, the property is worth approximately $10 million and includes five bedrooms, six bathrooms and a four-car garage, according to Realtor.com. It sold for $7.1 million in 2021.

Butler, who had been quarrel with the Heat for most of the current NBA season before his trade with the Warriors, suspended him for three different times earlier this year, costing him about $5 million. The Heat agreed to hand him over to the Warriors on February 5. Butler reportedly signed a two-year contract with the Warriors worth $121 million.
