Items worth $4,500 reportedly stolen from Delta Airlines passenger’s checked luggage

A woman looking forward to a family vacation received some bad news upon arriving in the United States Bahamas Christmas.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, Atlanta resident Alison Joyner discovered two designer wallets worth a total of $4,500 were missing from her checked luggage after a Delta Air Lines flight.

“I definitely felt violated,” Joyner told Fox 5. “Like, why would anyone do this? Why me?”

While unpacking at the hotel, Joyner noticed her belongings looked disorganized and her blue Chanel clutch and Louis Vuitton clutch were missing.

Joyner reportedly said she put the Apple AirTags into her Chanel bag before flying. After tracking the location, Joyner found the tag 30 miles south of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

“I said, ‘Let me check my phone,'” Joyner said. “It says it’s a place in Senoia, Georgia, but I’ve never been there.”

Fox 5 reported that the Delta passenger, who is also a Platinum SkyMiles Medallion member, immediately reported the missing item to the airline and said that considering she had flown on Delta many times in the past, American Airlines flight, she was in disbelief.

“While this is rare, Delta Air Lines has a zero-tolerance policy for baggage theft and will investigate the situation where it occurred,” Delta told local television. “We are contacting the customer to rectify the situation.”

The Atlanta Police Department confirmed to Fox News Digital that they are investigating a theft reported by Joyner, but the incident report is ongoing and has not yet been finalized.

Fox News Digital reached out to Delta for comment, but they did not immediately respond.

The Atlanta resident said the incident could change her future travel plans.

“It’s something I would definitely reconsider in the future,” Joyner said. “I just didn’t expect this to happen, especially at Christmas when it’s all about joy, giving and kindness.”
