In Buena Park

Authorities said three disabled pickup trucks were killed Friday morning when their vehicles were hit by a tractor trailer on Highway 91 in Buena Park.

California Highway Patrolman Duane Graham said the pickup truck was hit by a tractor trailer truck after being caught in a previous collision and was parked on the highway not long ago.

The collision occurred in rainy conditions, on the east side of the expressway near Valley View Street. All three adult occupants in the pickup truck were dead, with no immediate information about their identity.

Graham said the driver of the tractor trailer truck stayed on the scene.

The eastbound expressway was closed for several hours when first responders responded to the scene. As of 7:30 a.m., one lane is open to traffic.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Graham said it was too early to determine if there was a factor in rain.
