Huge US 127 construction projects resumed on Monday. Bring your patience

Lansing – Another spring, another major road construction project.

This is the disappearance of the Lansing area in recent years, and the state’s state highway department is about the process of modifying the U.S. Corridor 127 between Interstate 69 and South Ingham County line in southern Clinton County.

This year’s UP is the second phase of reconstruction between Interstate 96 and Interstate 496. It is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 3 and end at the end of this year. This is what you need to know.

What happened this year?

The crew will run 3½ miles between the two interstates, rebuilding the southbound lane of the highway, essentially doing everything they did last year on the northbound side.

All traffic will be transferred to the northbound side so that workers can tear and replace damaged southbound lane concrete. Officials said that for the most part, two traffic lanes will be maintained in both directions on the new sidewalk, avoiding movable obstacles like the states deployed last year, but the pinch will remain at the north and south ends of the workspace, and the crossover lanes will occur.

This MDOT map provides an overview of the improvement project for Corridor 127 in the United States.

The Michigan Department of Transportation said traffic control is expected to be implemented by about mid-March by mid-March.

As last year, the project will require multiple ramp closures, detours and slowdowns, and MDOT recommends drivers plan their commutes accordingly. The crew once again focused on the southern area of the work area between Dunker Road and I-96 to quickly complete and ease congestion there.

Officials asked the driver to wait patiently.

“I hope Eveybody sees (a new aspect of Feeway), maybe when we work on Southbound this year, we will get extra patience from the public,” Trevor Block, who runs the MDOT project, said in the February 13 Webinar, in the February 13 Webinar of Selection Lansing, which was the Commisence and Commence and Mdot and Mdot and Mdot.

What have you done?

The state surfaced in our 127 and made other improvements from north north of Mason in 2022 and 2023 on the Jackson County line. It also rebuilt the bridge at the US 127/I-496 exchange.

Last year, the north-facing side of the expressway between Interstate 96 and Interstate 496 was rebuilt, and the same will happen on the southern side this year.

Where do we go from here?

After the highway section between I-96 and I-496 is completed this year, MDOT will shift its attention to the north.

In 2026, the agency plans to rebuild both sides of the expressway between I-69 and the expressway south of Lansing Road. According to an online project overview, the section will be rebuilt by milling concrete and lowering the asphalt cover.

“In addition to this work, the project will improve bridges through the corridor and upgrade drainage, signage, smart transportation systems and pavement markings,” MDOT said.

The next two years – 2027 and 2028 – Will is committed to rebuilding and re-tuning the portion of I-496 from I-496 to the south of Lansing Road.

“In addition to pavement repairs, the project will improve bridges through this corridor and upgrade drainage, signage, smart transportation systems and pavement markings,” the agency said.

Traffic restrictions and other details about the last two phases have not been announced.
