Andrew allegedly invited the couple in 1999 to Balmoral, the Scottish queen’s residence in Scotland.
Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison for seeking a teenage girl to abuse Epstein for Epstein for his sexual trafficking trial in June 2022.
Jeffrey Epstein
Andrew continued to visit Epstein in New York after financiers convicted of child sex crimes in 2008.
Epstein was sentenced to 18 months in prison, but was allowed to “work release” to his office most of the time and was released from probation after 13 months.

In 2019, Virginia Giuffre, a plaintiff of Epstein formerly known as Virginia Roberts, filed a lawsuit in Manhattan claiming she was trafficked by Epstein, Epstein She had sex with Andrew when she was 17 and committed a minor under U.S. law.
Ms Giuffre accused Andrew of abuse as a teenager on Epstein’s private island, Stam James, and the prince “definitely” denies her.
2019: BBC News Night Interview
The Duke of York talked about his connection with Epstein in an interview with BBC Newsnight’s Emily Maitlis (Mark Harrison/BBC/PA).
Andrew has been criticized for an interview on BBC News Night which aired on November 16, 2019.
In the interview, he denied that he was asleep with Ms. Giuffrey, saying that an encounter could not have happened because he and his daughter Princess Beatrice were at the Pizza Express branch in Woking.
He also said that it was untrue for Ms Giuffre to sweat in a nightclub because “the adrenaline overdose in the Falkland War” prevented him from sweating.
The Royal faced public opposition, with the Equality Movement claiming that he was “too stupid to even be concerned about Epstein’s victims”.
2019: Take a step back
Four days later, Andrew announced that the Queen allowed him to withdraw from public duties after an interview.
He said his connection to Epstein has become a “major focus” for the royal family’s work in recent days.
Royal said he regretted his connection with Epstein and “deeply sympathized with the victims.”
2022: Deprived of Royal Champions and Military Affiliation

In January 2022, the Queen deprived Andrew of his military title and royal sponsorship when a U.S. judge allowed Ms. Giuffre to conduct a trial against her son.

Andrew faces calls for confirmation of how he funded the settlement (reported to as high as £12m), and whether the Queen and even Prince of Wales’ King Charles contributed to the sum.
December 2024: “Confucius” banned for Chinese espionage accusations
