Israel has agreed to release 50 Palestinian prisoners for every female soldier released, officials said.

This suggests that 200 Palestinian prisoners will be released in exchange for four prisoners.

Israeli media reported that the list of hostages planned for release did not match the original agreement, although it was unclear whether this would affect the planned exchange.

Three Israeli women and 90 Palestinian prisoners were exchanged last Sunday, the first in more than a year.

Israel says 94 Israelis and foreigners remain in Gaza locations after the first release.

The ceasefire agreement comes after months of ad hoc negotiations between Qatar and Egypt, backed by the United States.

Since then, it has stopped fighting since a truce in November 2023 that lasted just a week.
