GJPD arrested in serious injury crash

KREX, Colorado – The Great Junction Police Department announced Thursday that they were arrested in a serious injury crash on January 31.

The crash of the two vehicles occurred at the intersection of North 1st Street and North Avenue, and a passenger car parked under a red light while a white truck was driving eastward on a highway. The impact seriously damaged the passenger car and the two drivers suffered serious injuries. Street racing is not the factor in this collapse.

The driver of the van was identified as 37-year-old Ragnar Nickolas Kristl, who was treated for serious injuries suffered during the accident. A warrant for Kristl’s arrest was issued and detained on February 21, without incident.

Kristl faces the following charges:

  • Vehicle Attack – Driving in a reckless manner, resulting in serious personal injury.

  • Vehicle Attack – Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, resulting in serious personal injury.

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The driver of the passenger car is still hospitalized. The case is still under investigation.
