Georgia bill passed the Senate to be likened to “Doge Lite”

The Georgia Senate passed a bill Monday calling them “Doge Lite.”
Senate Bill 28, the Traditional Tape Festival Rollback Act of 2025, aims to reduce costs and increase accountability for state agencies by reviewing and updating rules and regulations every four years.
During the vote, Democrats opposed the measure, accusing Republicans of trying to bring the road to Georgia. “Doge” refers to the efficiency government department of SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, with the aim of narrowing the federal government.

The bill also targets small businesses and requires state agencies to assess the cost-effectiveness of the rules and will seek public opinions on whether the rules are justified and whether the government can reduce those costs further.

Votes are distributed among parties, but most are Republicans.
“Since Donald Trump is president, we need to be angry at the parity bill,” Senator Greg Dolezal claimed after the vote. “This is just the state of Georgia politics.”
Dolezal said there were some false demonstrations of the bill.

He continued that a similar bill passed bipartisan support last year before President Trump was re-elected.
Overall, Senate Democrats believe the bill will effectively cut costs, just like at the federal level.
The bill will now go to the House of Representatives to consider.
