Fire breaks out along Highway 405 in Sepulveda Pass, burns Bel Air

A new fire broke out Thursday morning in Bel Air, just east of Highway 405 at Sepulveda Pass.
The fire was burning uphill toward the Sepulveda Fire Road. National Weather Service meteorologist Todd Hall said winds in the area were around 8 mph to 15 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph around 11:15 p.m. The air is extremely dry, with relative humidity ranging from 3% to 8%.
Several fire engines rushed to the scene. Firefighting helicopters rushed to the scene, spraying and filling Stone Canyon Reservoir near Bellaire.
Vehicles could be seen driving slowly along Route 405 as flames burned on an adjacent hillside.
An evacuation warning was issued for residents south of the 1500 block of Casiano Road, north of Moraga Drive, east of Sepulveda Boulevard and west of Chalon Road.
The Hotel Angeleno in Los Angeles is evacuating 121 people due to a fire in nearby Sepulveda across Highway 405, according to a front desk worker.
The Sepulveda fire happened during a busy day for firefighters.
A fire broke out north of Castaic on Wednesday and scorched more than 10,000 acres, forcing thousands of people to flee their homes and adding to a month of extreme fire conditions plaguing Southern California.
The fire started on Lake Hughes Road around 11 a.m., quickly triggering evacuation orders for Castaic Lake and the surrounding area, and in the afternoon the fire spread west into Ventura County. County, extending north to near Sandberg. More than 31,000 people were ordered to evacuate, and warnings were issued to 23,000 others.
