Danish interior design is clean, simple, and often draws from nature, and this is exactly how to define Laura Brandenburg Bilde of Séché Studio‘s mind-altering “New Wave” rug and carpet collection.
Designed for Ege Carpets, the Danish designer was inspired by her surroundings of the untouched Western Dutch coastlines where the sand, grass, and oceans are as natural as can be. These places of beauty are dramatically quiet and remote, and somehow this tranquility has been translated onto Bilde’s rugs, which look like wet sand that’s still showing signs of the waves lapping up against the shore, or others that seem raked in a similar manner to how the Japanese have zen gardens (枯山水, Karesansui).
The natural elements don’t stop there, as each rug or carpet is made from ECONYL — a yarn made from fishing nets and other repurposed waste that now only adds to the sustainability of each piece. Lastly, the grass-inspired pieces can also be purchased as tiles, meaning you can continue the earthly patterns from the floor and onto the wall.
