Detroit Lions linebacker Alex Anzalone shares gnarly photo of broken forearm

Hours before the team departs sunday night football Anzalone, 30, took to Instagram Stories to post a photo of a broken forearm after surgery against the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field in Detroit.
“Everyone wants to be a dog, until you have to do something dog-y,” Anzalone wrote alongside a photo of his stitched-up left arm.
Anzalone suffered a fractured left forearm after colliding with a teammate Brian BranchHelmet worn during the Lions’ game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 17.
according to detroit free pressthere is a metal plate underneath the scar on Anzalo’s forearm. Anzalone underwent surgery a week after the injury.
Six weeks after surgery, he returned to the lineup on Sunday and helped the Lions defeat the Vikings 31-9 to earn the NFC’s top seed and a first-round bye in the playoffs. They also won the NFC North title for the second consecutive season.

“Anytime you get injured or face adversity, mentally it’s an opportunity to grow,” Anzalone told reporters after the game. “I feel like I’ve grown in different aspects. Your game is taken away from you and when you come back it’s a blessing to play again.
After missing the Lions’ previous six games, Anzalone said the win over the Vikings was “a statement.” detroit head coach Dan Campbell Praise was given to the returning linebacker for giving the team a jolt with his presence.
“His return is huge,” Campbell, 48, told reporters. “Look, I said it before, he’s really our defensive quarterback. He brings a lot of confidence, a lot of energy. He calms the storm. I thought it would take him a minute to get back to normal, but it didn’t take a lot. A long time. He has returned to his pre-injury state.
When Anzalone returned from the game, he shared a message with his wife: Lindsay Anzalonewritten for him on a dry erase board.
“Welcome home!” Lindsay wrote in the photo Alex posted via his Instagram Story. “We are proud of you!”
Alex captioned the photo: “My reason ❤️.”
The couple married in June 2019 and have two children: son cooper3, and daughter Carter14 months.
After a first-round bye, Anzalone and the Lions will return to action in the NFL Divisional Playoffs, which kick off on Saturday, January 18, as Detroit attempts to win its first Super Bowl in franchise history.
