Demi Moore wins first Golden Globe

Demi Moore won her first Golden Globe on Sunday for her role in “Material.”
Moore, 61, admitted she was “shocked” as she took the stage to accept her award.
“I’ve been doing this a long time, about 45-plus years, and this is the first time I’ve won any awards as an actor,” Moore told the audience at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

In “Material,” Moore played an actress who was unceremoniously fired from a fitness show at the age of 50 because she was deemed too old and unpopular.
To continue her career, she uses a magical drug that promises to produce a very younger version of herself (played by Margaret Qualley), albeit at a bloody and brutal cost.

After catching her breath and explaining that she was “so humble and so grateful,” Moore recalled a time in her career when a producer told her she was just a “popcorn actress.”

“At the time, I mean this was not something I was allowed to have…I couldn’t be acknowledged,” Moore said.
“I bought into it and I believed … that it would corrode me over time.”

She added, “A few years ago I thought that was it. Maybe I was done, I had done what I was supposed to do. At a low point, this crazy script showed up on my desk. The universe told me, I’m not done yet. “
Moore remembers a woman who told her not to compete with others and that she would never be “enough,” but how important it was to know her worth if she “put down the stick.”
