Dave Portnoy provides tips on how to create a successful podcast

Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, knows one or two things about podcasts and believes that the industry is “super confusing” today, so “early and different” is a key element of success.

“We already have every podcast, like we’re in the sun. We’re already early on,” Portnoy told Fox News Digital Digital.

Indeed, Barstool has produced podcasts for people from all walks of life, including popular sports champions like “Pardon My Take” and “Spittin Chicks”, a popular culture brand that is centered around women, “Chicken in the Office.”

One of Barstool’s most successful podcasts is “Title Her Dad,” a gender theme hosted by Alexandra Cooper and Sofia Franklyn. The co-host ended up taking a separate approach, and Cooper has become one of the most influential voices in all media.

Cooper received a multi-million dollar deal for Spotify under the “Call Her Dad” brand and jumped to Siriusxm in 2024 to earn a huge payday, and reportedly earning $125 million in three years.

Cooper went on to sign the influential Alix Earle, who recently became the first digital cover star in sports painter swimsuits – signing her unstable network, but the variety show reported last month that female influencers had split and left their own ways. When Portnoy found himself in ordeal, he posted a can of high school videotape playingfully shaking himself, superimposing it on the image in the morning, showing him calling Earle.

Many skeptical Barstool sets to sign Earle, but Portnoy says he is actually laughing at Cooper, who posted a similar video when she signed former bar factory host Grace O’Malley.

“That’s a joke,” Portnoy said.

He added: “I just learned that Alix Earle was even huge, obviously Alex worked for me. I still had a good relationship with her, but she made the same video with grace. So I was just laughing and laughing at the fun.”

“The Barstool model is about finding unknown people and then making them big. Once they’re already big – what happened to Alex and Alix. [for]? And vice versa,” Portnoy said. “Money complaints, old band labels…I just kind of needled Alex Cooper, like Turnabout is fair drama. ”
