D -backs extends Geraldo Perdomo -MLB Trade Rumors

Rattlesnakes have reportedly reached an agreement with shortstop Geraldo Perdomo The 2026-29 season will be covered in the four-year extension. There is also a fifth-grade club option. Perdomo is a customer of Republic Sports, guaranteed $45mm. The deal bought his last two arbitration seasons and at least two possible free agent years, and the option covers the third free agent season.

Perdomo has over three years of Major League Baseball service. He has agreed to pay a 2.55mm salary to pay for his first arbitration season. That has not changed. He will charge a $5MM signing bonus and receive $5mm for 5mm, ’27 $8mm, ’28 $11mm, ’29 $13mm in 2026. This option is worth 15mm and comes with a $3mm acquisition. If he makes the top 10 in the MVP vote, his 2028-30 salary may be upgraded. Perdomo has been in free agents until the 28-year-old season. If D-Backs exercise their choice, he will enter the market at the age of 31.

Perdomo of the switch established himself as an Arizona shortstop, behind a strong glove and a strong plate. He made his debut in 2021, but he won’t get a real chance until next season. As a rookie, he has had very few offenses, but he has been the average batsman in the league for the past two years.

Perdomo performed well in the first half of 2023. He won the All-Star nod after .271/.378/.408. In the second half, his offense came out of the All-Star game as he managed only the .214/.322/.297 line in the second half. Still, manager Torey Lovullo announced during last spring training that he remains committed to Perdomo as a daily shortstop.

The start of last season was a tough one. The midfielder had a burr on his right knee during the first two weeks of the season. He underwent surgery until early June. Perdomo was excellent on his return, hitting 20 doubles and a pair of home runs on the 361-dish appearance. He has played the .258/.349/.366 slash on the plate over the past two seasons.

Perdomo took a counterattack attack method. He has walked with a strong 11.3% clip since early 2023 while keeping the strikeout rate at 16.3%. He has 41 doubles and 6 3-pointers and only 9 home runs. He approached the bottom of the league at the bottom of the league with hard contact rate and average exit rate, but he rarely chased things off the plate or was beaten in the strike zone. The only one Luis Arraez and Steven Kwan The batsman has had a low swing rate over the past two seasons, with at least 500 sets appearing.

The small ball game even extends to the colorful flags. Perdomo leads the Sacrifice Major in 2022 and 23 years. Despite his absence and injuries, he tied for sixth in the category last year. Although he doesn’t have excellent first-line speeds, Perdomo has always been an effective base machine and a solid overall base game.

Public metrics depict different pictures of defense. In each of his three seasons, Statcast rated him as the league average shortstop. Save the defensive run comments bounced. Drs was below average in 2022 and 23, but ran him last year +10, which ranked fifth in that position.

Arizona loves Perdomo’s game despite top infield prospects Jordan Lawlar. The 22-year-old ranks in the best prospects for Arizona, ranking in the top 15 in the top 100 US baseball rankings. Lawlar had a cup of coffee late in the 23 season and could have earned his first major MLB chance last year if he hadn’t been injured. He may open on Triple-A this year, but at some point it should be a factor in the mid-season. His long-term future may be third base Eugenio Suárez Score to free agents in the next offseason. Rattlesnakes have perdomo and Ketel Marte Signed for many years outside.

During the offseason, D-BACKS pushed salary to the height of the franchise record. According to Rosterresource, they will enter the season with a salary of 195mm north. That’s ahead of last year’s 163mm Open Day mark, which is itself a high point for an organization. Next winter, they will be priced at nearly 90mm from books. Suarez, Jordan Montgomery,,,,, Zach Gallen,,,,, Merrill Lynch Kelly and Josh Naylor All are hitting free agents. They will have a lot of work to do, especially on the pitchers, but there is enough future flexibility to expand their commitment to Perdomo.

Mike Rodriguez first reported that D-backs are signing Perdomo as an extension. ESPN’s Jeff Passan has a four-year guaranteed, fifth-grade option starting in 2026. Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reported for the first time that the option could push the contract to 57mm, while the escalator could be added by another 15mm. Nick Piecoro of the Republic of Arizona suffered a full salary break, while Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported the MVP bonus.
