Cowboys star Sheedy Lamb out for rest of season with shoulder injury

CeeDee Lamb won’t finish the season with the Dallas Cowboys. The team announced he was out with a shoulder injury.

The team revealed the move Thursday and said Lamb will be unable to play the final two games to begin the recovery process from a shoulder injury he has dealt with all season.

“Additional tests and scans on CeeDee Lamb’s shoulder this week determined that the injury has now progressed to the point where he will be listed as ‘out’.

“His shoulder will undergo a treatment and rehabilitation process and no surgery is currently expected and he is expected to make a full recovery.”

Lamb was diagnosed with an AC joint strain in Week 9, but he soldiered on as Dallas continued to try to keep its playoff hopes alive.

Even though Dallas defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, the Cowboys were eliminated from the playoffs.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones lobbies NFL to continue Christmas game every year

So, with no postseason in sight, the Cowboys want to make sure Lamb doesn’t suffer further injuries and begin the process with a full recovery in 2025 in mind.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones addressed Lamb’s situation on The Fan’s 105.3 show on Tuesday.

“We’ll leave it to the players,” Jones said. It’s unclear how Lamb feels about the decision to close for the rest of the year.

Lamb discussed his injury this week, saying “my shoulder isn’t right” after a 26-24 win over the Buccaneers.

“I’m just out there fighting and doing what I have to do,” Lamb said.

Lamb, who re-signed with the Cowboys this offseason, had 101 catches for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games, his fourth straight season with 1,110 or more yards.

Lamb has been without Dak Prescott throwing passes to him all season, as the franchise quarterback, who also received a contract extension this offseason, had a game against the Atlanta Falcons earlier this season. Injury resulted in season loss.

However, Lamb developed some chemistry with Prescott’s backup, Cooper Rush, who took over as the starter. The Cowboys have won four of their past five games, but their 7-8 record with two games remaining is not good enough to make the NFC playoffs.
