Cook’s story will come to light

Fans finally get to know Kiana Cooke better after joining Intelligence earlier this season (Toya Turner) is and where she comes from.

Sigen said Cook’s past will reveal why she is so focused on being present and “doing her job.” She teased that the show’s return will be an “action ride” for Cooke, and that the rest of the season will offer more “about her background, who she is and why she’s unique to the unit ”.
Chief Reed and Voight go toe-to-toe

Throughout Season 12, Reed has been aware of everything Voight’s team has done – both good and bad – and turned a blind eye to it. However, Sigan told us There’s a price to pay for his choice not to condemn the team.
“He’s a very guarded character. It’s hard for Voight to really read him,” the producers said of Reed, noting, “We always thought Voight was kind of a know-it-all. So let someone else do it. It was really fun to do.
She called Reed an “interesting mirror to Voight,” meaning the chief “operates the way Voight used to,” but “enhanced and exaggerated.”
“We’re going to learn more and more about him and his motivations throughout the season,” Sagan joked. “But it’s definitely a cat-and-mouse game… It’s certainly a friendship that comes with a lot of strings attached.”
Burgess does things his own way

In Season 12, Episode 6, Burgess played the detective, and viewers will see her performance throughout the second half of the season.
“She just takes on a leadership role and has an easy transition,” Sigen explained. “You’ll see her giving orders more often and definitely be a little overwhelmed or surprised by how many [paperwork and] more responsibility [she has]”.
While Burgess has a lot to handle, she’s found her “best performance,” and Siegen said her leadership style is “very different” from past detective Haley Upton.Trish Spiridakos) and Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Sofer).
“It feels like it’s her own thing, more of, ‘I’m still your companion, but I’m giving you orders now. I’m directing a little more now,'” Sigen continued. “I think everyone is really supportive and playing these roles.”
Torres ‘not great’

In the midseason finale, which airs in November 2024, Tori’s past romance with informant Gloria Perez (Yara Martinez) came to light when she was discovered running a drug business in Chicago. Gloria died after helping the intelligence community, and to his surprise, Torres was not reprimanded by the director for his misdeeds.
However, when the show returned, Torres’ performance wasn’t “great.” “It triggered a lot of things for him,” Sigan said of the incident and Gloria’s death, noting that Torres’ background will continue to be explored.
“[We reveal] Why he was attracted to this woman, why he got involved in this, and that kind of trauma that goes back to his childhood,” she told us. “And also how current events are causing a bit of a crisis of faith.”
Atwater’s love story isn’t over yet

Atwater agrees to a no-strings-attached relationship with Valeria “Val” Soto (Natalie Lynez) in Season 12 Episode 3, according to Sigan, this arrangement may change when Val returns in upcoming episodes.
“The great thing about this relationship is the way it starts is almost like, ‘We’re going to do things that are just for the two of us,'” she said. “But, obviously, how does it evolve and develop over time?”
The producer explained that Atwater had to “decide if this is just a random thing that we all obviously need in our lives, or is there something more to it?”
Sigen added: “We’re going to explore what’s behind both of them and maybe why they don’t want something very serious. Is this a defense mechanism or is it because of the way they’ve built their lives? She hints that this dynamic will change. Be “more emotional, more profound”.
Brzek will get married

Squerciati previously said us She wanted Burgess to have a “white dress moment” when she eventually married Ruzek. However, Fruge told us He thought their style was more of a “courthouse” wedding.
Sigen revealed that the on-screen wedding was the “middle ground” between the two. “It’s been a long time coming, they have this family – they have [daughter] Michaela [and] She wanted to have a voice and I think she wanted a party,” Sigan told us Tuesday. “So, to me, it would be a middle ground, finding a way that works for both of them, rather than having a courthouse wedding where they can have everyone they love there.”
She noted that it’s also supposed to be a “simple” and “down-to-earth thing,” but the scenes haven’t been filmed yet. “I don’t know all the details,” Sigen admitted, adding that she “could see” Trudy Pratt (Amy Morton) hosted.
